Paint and Sip Party Supplies Checklist for India, with Cost per Guest

A Paint & Sip party lives or dies on preparation. Run out of brushes or pick a surface that soaks up paint and the evening drags; get the kit right and guests leave with something they are proud to carry. This checklist covers everything for a party in India, plus a realistic budget per guest.

Why tote bags beat stretched canvas boards

Stretched canvas boards go on a wall and are often forgotten. A painted tote bag gets used every week, which is why hosts across India now offer tote bags, pouches and sling bags alongside or instead of boards.

  • Lighter and cheaper to buy in bulk.
  • Easy to carry home wet in a paper bag.
  • Guests can choose a product: tote, sling bag or pouch.
  • Photos of guests holding their bags work well on Instagram.

The complete checklist

Painting surface (one per guest, plus 10% spare)

Paint and tools

  • Fabric paints in primary colours plus white and black (6–8 colours).
  • 3 brushes per guest: one flat, one round, one fine liner.
  • Palettes or paper plates, 1 per 2 guests.
  • Water cups, 1 per guest.
  • Tissue or rags, and a few wet wipes.
  • Fabric markers for names and outlines.

Setup

  • Table covers or newspaper.
  • Aprons, or ask guests to wear old clothes.
  • An easel or sample bag for the host’s reference design.
  • A hairdryer to speed up drying between layers.
  • Brown paper bags for taking finished bags home.

The “sip” part

Mocktails, chai or coffee, plus finger food that does not need cutlery. Keep drinks on a separate table so cups are not mistaken for brush water.

Budget: cost per guest

Frequently asked questions

How many tote bags should I order for a party of 25?

Order 28–30, so a few guests can restart or take a second bag. Five sets of 6 gives you 30.

Which paint dries fastest?

Fabric paint applied in thin layers dries enough to add detail in 15–20 minutes, faster with a hairdryer.

Can kids join the same party?

Yes. Give them sling bags or pouches, which they can finish in under an hour.
